Privatized Companies and Foreign Trade in Argentina During the Convertibility Plan

  Impact of the privatization process on foreign trade in Argentina during the Convertibility Plan period (1991-2001) is examined. The balance of payments, both current accounts, and capital accounts and statements, is analyzed from a little-explored perspective, namely considering foreign trade as a net supplier of foreign exchange to the Argentinean economy during convertibility.
 
Basque Investment in Mexico

  In recent years, Mexico has become the main target of Basque direct foreign investment. This study analyzes the reasons, based both on the OLI (ownership, localization, internationalization) model and the Uppsala model. A survey was done expressly to evaluate the determining factors in this decision, and the author concludes that investment criteria coincide with the essential postulates of both models.
 
Accelerated Internationalization of Emerging Multinationals: The Case of Appliance Industry

  One of the most interesting results of globalization is the rise of what could be considered to be a second wave of multinationals, this time emerging from developing countries. A case study of three successful appliance companies (Mabe, Arçelik and Haier) that grew through internationalization is instructive in understanding this phenomenon.
 
Call Centers and Telemarketing: Paradigm of Mass Economy Based on Information Technology

  In current post-industrial society, call centers are part of core business strategy. They can help win market share through direct contact with consumers and suppliers. These centers are part of a new industry based on technology in constant development. Within this industry, labor relations and how they integrate into the host country are being redefined in the international economy.
